A standard Halcyon-Class cruiser has its Engineering section in the middle of the ship. The section covers nearly the entire width of the ship and is the largest single room onboard. It has four nuclear generators that power the ship. The standard Halcyon can still move with only one generator working, but, when all are out, the core becomes unstable and can explode.

At the end of the Battle of Installation 04, the Master Chief overloaded the UNSC Pillar of Autumn's engines by firing an explosive into each of the engine's casings.
