The ''Musashi'' was one of the hundreds of ships that was present at the [[Fall of Reach]] on [[2552#August|August 30, 2552]]. While moving to cover [[Reach]]'s [[orbital defense platform]]s, ''Musashi '' was hit by an [[energy projector]] from a [[Covenant]] [[Kewu-pattern battleship|warship]]. The beam severed the ''Musashi'' amidships, instantly putting her out of the fight. ==Etymology==
''Musashi'' was likely named in honor of the [[Wikipedia:Musashi Province|Musashi Province]] in ancient [[Wikipedia:Japan|Japan]], or [[Wikipedia:Miyamoto Musashi|Miyamoto Musashi]], a master swordsman and one of the greatest warriors of his era. However, it was more likely named in reference to the [[Wikipedia:Japanese battleship Musashi|Japanese battleship ''Musashi'']] of the Second World War. Along with her sister ship [[Wikipedia:Japanese battleship Yamato|''Yamato'']], she holds the record for being the heaviest battleships in history, and also hold the record for holding the largest naval guns ever mounted on a warship. ''Musashi'' was sunk during the [[Wikipedia:Battle of Leyte Gulf|Battle of Leyte Gulf]].
