After the battle, while the Armstrong was towed back the Reach to receive repairs, the UNSC had decided to create a new class of ships. However, they didn’t have enough resources to construct one from scratch, so they used the Armstrong. After 10 years of refitting the UNSC Armstrong (Heavy Battleship) was ready for active service and was made the flagship for Battle Group Echo, otherwise known as the “Rapid Response Battle Group”, in where these specially designed ships, which have advanced slipspace drives, have the ability to respond quickly to an attack on a colony and engage the enemy as soon as they exit slipspace. After approximately 8-9 years of service, and destroying 100 Covenant vessels, the Covenant designed and constructed the one and only Ultracarrier in response to the UNSC Armstrong. Then, on May 5, 2549 the Covenant Ultracarrier joined an attack fleet en route to Arcadia. After about 30 minutes of the Covenant stacking the planet Battle Group Echo entered the system and engaged the Covenant.
