Additionally, all ''Halcyon''-class light cruisers were decommissioned as the war progressed. It would be utterly useless to have a non-upgraded Halcyon escort the ''Infinity''. They had virtually no offensive power. They wouldn't be useful in a defense role without upgrades. What I meant was, with the UNSC acquiring Forerunner tech, this ship could have a much more extensive refit than the POA.

This should not be listed as a ''Halcyon''-class. It's structurally different from the Halo 1, Reach and Anniversary versions. It is speculation to list it as such. ::- Long antenna-like protrusion at the front is longer on the Halo 4 version (it's visually double the Reach version antenna length)<br>

::::To play the devil's advocate, the differences do seem rather minor when the general design and shape of the hull are virtually identical otherwise. Do you think it would be far-fetched to assume they're Halcyons that have been upgraded at some point? The differences are exactly the kind one could easily expect to see in a refit - upgraded sensors, communications equipment and the like. But making them a wholly distinct class? On top of that, in light of most of 343i's design choices so far (the ''Dawn'' stands out as the most egregious), changes like these are comparatively tiny and would even have a very reasonable in-universe basis (the UNSC would basically be forced to upgrade the hopelessly obsolete Halcyons - if they still kept using them). ::::I agree with Jugus on this one. Those differences listed above are hardly noticeable. If you were to take a look at the Song of the East, it would instantly look like a Halcyon off the back regardless of the minor differences. To me its either 343i being a lil inconsistent (or lazy) or just a classic example of refitting, like Jugus said above. The minor detail changes w/ the Halcyon class is nothing compared to the Dawn - more specifically, the Charon class, where it is 100% different and can be considered an entirely new breed (but was considered a retcon instead). The Halcyon class here looks virtually identical with nothing radically changed aside from minor structural differences and it maintains the same basic shape as the original. Its almost like saying the POA in Reach isn't a Halcyon because of the detail changes. So IMO it should remain classified as a Halcyon. Now all those "new" frigates is what should really be disputed as either being Charon-class or something entirely new.
