Covenant remnants[edit]

Can we really consider Lydus' clan a splinter group of the Covenant? It just appears to be a normal Jiralhanae clan to me; they don't really appear to be trying to "recreate" the Covenant empire like most splinter groups. - NightHammer (talk) 16:40, 29 January 2015 (EST)

I kinda' agree, but never said anything because I figured he probably has enough military power to rival that of most remnant groups.Sith-venator Wavingstrider Fett helmet.jpg (Commlink) 16:46, 29 January 2015 (EST)
I don't think our use of "Covenant remnant" is limited to factions that necessarily try to recreate the Covenant. Literally, it should include any Covenant group that still exists in the post-war era. But I do see your point, for example we don't consider Sangheili states/keeps to be Covenant remnant. I don't really know if we should, actually. Imrane-117 (talk) 16:50, 29 January 2015 (EST)
I think the term "Covenant remnant" should be used to identify either a group that is attempting to recreate the Covenant, or a group that has members from multiple former Covenant races. As far as we know, Lydus' clan does not have any non-Jiralhanae members. - NightHammer (talk) 17:25, 29 January 2015 (EST)
One might say "Covenant remnants" are groups that are defined by the Covenant's cultural, social or religious influence. That said, I think the Covenant remnants page works quite well as it is; for example, the Abiding Truth is actually pre-Covenant and Sangheili-only, yet it rose to prominence as its own faction only after the Covenant's fall. Same with Lydus' group. They are technically just another Jiralhanae master-pack, but I would say the fact they have enough influence to matter in the grand scheme of things warrants them a place on the list. That, and the major groups are easier to find when they're all in one place. Note that neither this article or the Covenant remnants one actually call Lydus' clan a Covenant remnant faction at any point; they're just listed as one for the sake of convenience. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 01:07, 30 January 2015 (EST)
Okay, I see your point. Thanks for the clarification! - NightHammer (talk) 21:12, 30 January 2015 (EST)
