i dont know about it being random. doesn't the game tell you on the bottom left of the screen?
They mean random in the sense that you don't know when you're going to get it. If you stick someone, you know you're going to get a stick medal. It's almost impossible to know when you're going to get a killjoy. Also, please sign your comments.
