Talk:Covenant drop pod

From Halopedia, the Halo wiki

In the level "Halo" in Halo 3, Cortana refers to them as "Covenant Dispersal Pods". I think we need an article name change. --Justin Time 04:58, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Doesn't she say "Flood Dispersal Pods"? --Dragonclaws(talk) 05:08, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

She said Flood Dispersal Pods there are no Covenant on that level, and Elites aren't Covenant anyway so even if they weren't flood they'd be called Sangheili Dispersal Pods not Covenant as the Elites have left.Veros 'Murum 07:39, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Also, the glitch that lets you "drive" them. Where is the proof? are there any photos that we can put up?Veros 'Murum 07:41, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

I uploaded a picture that shows the arbiter driving it during Co-Op with my friend. I got more photo's of it on my schreenshots page. - User:Driving-Ghost

So does the new heavy pod that caries three have its own page or not? FatalSnipe117 02:30, July 6, 2010 (UTC)

Name[edit]

The current article title is very general, and because it doesn't mention the item's affiliation it could really refer to any such pod, from SOEIVs to Flood dispersal pods. It would make sense to be more descriptive: "Covenant drop pod" springs to mind (I think they are even called "drop pods" a few times). --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 23:52, 19 August 2013 (EDT)

That would work. The Xbox LIVE avatar prop is referred to as "Covenant Drop Pod".--Emblem 1.jpg Rusty-112 Admin comm 01:46, 20 August 2013 (EDT)
Agreed as well. What Rusty said or "Covenant insertion pod" would be good names for it.--Spartacus TalkContribs 11:42, 20 August 2013 (EDT)
"Covenant Drop Pod" would be ideal. But there are different types with slightly different functions and crew capacities. The one pictures here could be "Covenant Insertion Pod" or "Covenant Drop Pod". We may never find out for sure since it's a Reach version and the Essential Visual Guide didn't deal with that one in particular. -ScaleMaster117 (talk) 15:34, 20 August 2013 (EDT)
I've been entertaining the thought of merging this page with Heavy orbital insertion pod and listing the two main categories (single-occupant and multi-occupant) in the same article. Individual variants (e.g. the sleek single-occupant Elite pod seen in Halo 2 and the bulkier one in Reach) could be listed under their respective sections. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 23:46, 20 August 2013 (EDT)
The question would be, would these vehicles have a T-xx designation on their own for UNSC first-encounter? Would they warrant their own articles pages if we knew those designations? 343i seems to have made a distinction between an HEV Pod (Halo 2 and 3 variant) and the SOEIV Pod (ODST variant). Not sure I agree with it, because my impression was Bungie treated them as variants of the same vehicle, but we see from the Infinity's loadout in the Thorne booklet that came with Halo 4 LE that they designate the HEV Pod as an M8823 and the SOEIV as an M9407. While it's cool to have their model designations finally, do they warrant their own articles or stay bundled on Halopedia as they are? -ScaleMaster117 (talk) 06:48, 21 August 2013 (EDT)
It would be better to place them under an "umbrella" article, just like how we treated the M42 Archer and M58 Archer missiles. — subtank 08:15, 21 August 2013 (EDT)
Agreed, their function, design, and appearance are similar enough an umbrella article would be good for it. Col. Snipes450 11:10, 21 August 2013 (EDT)
