Talk:Armor customization (Halo: Reach)

Untitled[edit]

Shouldn't this be renamed "The Armoury"? --Felix-119 19:02, 15 March 2011 (EDT)

Based on the name, this is just a list of permutations. The armo(u)ry is much more than that, including Firefight voices.-- Forerunner 20:10, 15 March 2011 (EDT)

Helmet Attachments[edit]

Ok... so I find this hard to explain this, but Im going to try it.

So we have a CNM, CBRN/HUL, HUL pages. But we also have UA, RS, CNM-I, FC, HUL[3], FC-I, and FC-I[2] helmet attachments (pants). Why don't we make a page containing all helmet attachments? When I'm talking about this idea, I mean a page with sections for each attachment, as we have (for example,) HUL alone, CBRN/HUL, UA/HUL and others have similar cases.

Basically, a page with sections of helmet attachments alone, what they are compatible with (e.g. "HUL is compatible with UA on Mark V [B], CQC, EOD, and Security helmets.") and basically what we have now in wiki. Thanks for reading. S331 09:22, 22 March 2011 (EDT)

I support this. However, I would strongly prefer the entire list be reorganized by rank unlock. This way you don't need to spend forever trying to find the permutations that you get next rank. But most definitely, we need all the pictures, Mark VI doesn't even have pictures of the helmet attachments. CookieMan 01:11, 31 March 2011 (EDT)

I actually would also like it if this was organized by what rank you unlock the permutation on. Perhaps a table allowing everyone to choose whatever way they want to list it(name or unlock requirements, basically)? EscapeTheApe 20:34, 3 April 2011 (EDT)

This proposal is not getting into the eyes or ears of the admins. I'm working on the draft. Responding to Cookieman, your idea would be rather hard, since different helmets with different attachments are unlock-able at different ranks. For example, the UA/HUL from the EOD helmet can be bought starting from rank Sergeant, but the UA/HUL from the Security helment requires the rank of General. —S331 Bubbleshieldhud.svg (TalkContributions) 03:52, 25 April 2011 (EDT)
I think it would be good if we had multiple lists of the same thing. One organised by name and the other by rank so people can choose what they'd like to use.Fairfieldfencer FFF 04:41, 25 April 2011 (EDT)

Vanity[edit]

With Vanity, we can create any armor, including a Spartan equipped with only CQC armor, only Grenadier armor. Is this better than the individual boxes we made together into a single file on the pages? For example, we can put an image of a Spartan with only CQC armor pieces into the CQC armor page. As a format freak, I'm very eager to do this.—S331 Bubbleshieldhud.svg(When I played Halo: CE, we didn't have any fancy-shmancy armor abilities...) 10:42, 7 July 2011 (EDT)

I agree with this. It would be more in line with the Halo 3 armor images and give a clearer indication of how they look--210.56.81.200 21:59, 6 August 2011 (EDT)

"Verification Needed" on the total number of armor configurations[edit]

I don't really see how this should be flagged as needing verification. I was able to figure it out by simple math; basically multiplying every armor piece (i.e. total right shoulders x total left shoulders x total chest pieces, etc.) 69.92.141.111 04:53, 6 August 2011 (EDT)

Glitch[edit]

I was playing some reach and I quited. Then I played it again and my Armor was resetes back to recruit. Can anyone help?--Marine 777 16:41, 18 September 2011 (EDT)

This is a standerd glich in the game, it's happend to me many times before. It sohuld reset back to you real rank later 1-10 21:46, 27 September 2011 (EDT)

CQC_base.jpg[edit]

Why was this image deleted? Was it licensing reasons? The other identical "base" images are from the same source I believe.--Ender the Xenocide 01:00, 25 November 2011 (EST)

Separation by game[edit]

I noticed that many of the articles of armors in Halo 3 and Reach are mashed up into one section or separated into Mark V and Mark VI. I think they should be separated by games, having a section for H3, Reach, and H4, since the armors are somewhat different in each game, and it is easier to include info about unlocking and characteristics. Bioniclepluslotr 10:58, 29 June 2012 (EDT)

Even though it's classified as a "messy" article, MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor/S variant shows a pretty good and organized way to arrange game information. It's a pretty good example.—S331 Bubbleshieldhud.svg(COMMission LogProfile) 12:52, 29 June 2012 (EDT)

Just something I noticed[edit]

The idle animations of the Spartan you are customizing are exactly the same in Halo: Reach and Halo 4 if you watch the videos. (This includes that glance to the right and the leaning glance to the left). I know this is ridiculously pointless, but if this continues into the release version of Halo 4, would it be trivia worthy? I mean it doesn't look like just a close copy of animations, but as if they just ported them to Halo 4. It's neat either way.--Ender the Xenocide 09:57, 4 October 2012 (EDT)

Not sure if it's trivia worthy but it is quite apparent that some elements of Reach has been repurposed in Halo 4. Another visible example is why Elites is now larger than their iterations in previous titles. Then again, this is a common practice is game development to recycle resources for the new game because creating new things takes more time. — subtank 11:42, 4 October 2012 (EDT)
