When the Great Schism began, both Silset and Oebrin 'Chava found themselves united under Thel 'Vadam's Swords of Sanghelios, having always wanted for the Sangheili to break free of the Covenant. As weaponsmiths of the Swords of Sanghelios, both brothers intended to use their mastery of weaponsmithing to new, more honorable ends. Together, the two modified a Mosa to take on the "role and the soul" of Suban and adapted key attributes of the Gadulo, the favored weapon of Silset. The result was the "Blood of Suban", a carbine that fired Subanese blamite.

On January 4, 2560, Silset and his brother conducted an expedition to the moon of Qikost, escorted by Abalan, a SPARTAN-IV of the United Nations Space Command. Abalan was part of Fireteam Jorogumo, a Spartan unit tasked with joint-operations on Sanghelios alongside Swords military units. For three months the trio explored cave systems on Qikost before coming across an old San'Shyuum vault buried underground, locked with an arum. The 'Chava brothers spent nearly twenty minutes arguing amongst themselves about how to solve the arum puzzle in order to open the vault, with Silset ultimately proving correct and "allowing" his brother the honour of opening the trove if he admitted he was incorrect. Ultimately, the two only took four of the Vestige Carbines found inside the vault; one for historical archiving, two for experimentation and reverse-engineering, and one to give as a gift to Abalan.
Personality and traits
Of the two 'Chava brothers, Silset is excitable and generally more reckless as compared to Oebrin; the latter of whom was regarded by Spartan Abalan as the "more sensible" of the two.
