==Biography==
Odell was deployed to [[Gao]] with the 717th Xeno-Materials Exploitation Battalion under [[Commander]] [[Murtag Nelson]] after [[Forerunner]] activity was detected on the planet in [[2553#April|April of 2553]]. Their aim was to recover the Forerunner [[Ancilla]] [[Intrepid Eye]] for the [[United Nations Space Command]].{{Ref/Novel|Id=LL2|LL|Chapter=2}} This mission faced severe challenges as the unit was beset by an apparent serial killer in their mission area and weathered attacks from the [[Keepers of the One Freedom]] and anti-[[Unified Earth Government|UEG]] groups such as the [[Venezian Militia]] and the [[Committee to Preserve Gao Independence]]. The 717th drove back the Keepers in their initial engagement but suffered damage to their headquarters in the [[Montero Vitality Center]] and casualties among key personnel, including the deaths of every member of an investigative unit of the [[Gao Ministry of Protection]] (GMoP) aside from [[Special inspector]] [[Veta Lopis]].{{Ref/Novel|Id=LL20|LL|Chapter=20}}{{Ref/Reuse|LL23}}

On [[2553#June|June 6]], following this attack on the headquarters and [[Wendosa]], Sergeant Odell and [[Mikaelis]] accompanied Nelson as he met with Lopis while she was recovering from the battle in the Vitality Center. She provided Lopis with a datapad recovered from a file safe, the last source of uncorrupted evidence for the GMoP unit's investigation. She also appeared to rebuke Nelson when he asked for new situational information and attempted to stop him from disclosing classified information to Lopis, seemingly attempting to counter her superior's mental deterioration. [[SPARTAN-III program|Spartans]] [[Ash-G099]] and [[Olivia-G291]] then force their way into the room to speak to Lopis, after which Odell escorts them back to their quarters.{{Ref/Reuse|LL23}}
