Murok 'Vadam was born in the state of [[Vadam]] to the noble [[House of 'Vadam]] on [[Sanghelios]], the homeworld of the [[Sangheili]]. He resided in [[Vadam keep]], alongside [[Arbiter]] [[Thel 'Vadam]], the leader of the [[Swords of Sanghelios]] and [[kaidon]] of Vadam.{{Ref/Reuse|Intel}} He became one of the clan's council of elders.{{Ref/Novel|Id=FC|Halo: Fifth Canticle}}

In [[2558#October|October 2558]], Arbiter Thel 'Vadam and his Swords of Sanghelios secretly convened within the [[Elder Council Chamber]] in the [[Nuusra]] territory to prepare for their final efforts to rid [[Sanghelios]] of [[Jul 'Mdama]]'s [[Jul 'Mdama's Covenant|Covenant]]. Desperately needing an advantage over the Swords of Sanghelios, the Covenant promised 'Vadam power and prestige in exchange for the location of where the Arbiter and his soldiers were meeting, to give the Covenant an opportunity to assassinate the Arbiter. Failing to recognize that the severely weakened state of the Covenant could do little to give him what they promised, 'Vadam [[treason|informed]] the Covenant that the Arbiter and his soldiers were at Nuursa's Elder Council Chamber.{{Ref/Reuse|Intel}} However, 'Vadam's attempted betrayal failed in the resulting [[Battle of Nuusra]] when the [[SPARTAN-IV program|Spartan-IVs]] of [[Fireteam Osiris]] came to the aid of the Arbiter at the chamber and they were extracted back to the Swords of Sanghelios' encampment elsewhere in Nuusra.{{Ref/Level|H5G|[[Swords of Sanghelios (level)|Swords of Sanghelios]]}}

Interrogating a Covenant [[Unggoy]] in an effort to learn how the Covenant had located the Arbiter at the Elder Council Chamber, Sword of Sanghelios security officer [[Mahlo 'Turagg]] learned that Murok had betrayed them and 'Turagg promptly informed the Arbiter. When Thel confronted him, Murok made no attempt to hide his betrayal, believing that the Arbiter would not execute a member of his own [[clan]].{{Ref/Reuse|Intel}} Murok called his failure to kill Thel the gravest dishonor of all. Thel accused the elder of betraying him because Murok refused to see any other way than what he knew, following the Covenant even as it continued to fracture beneath his feet on the cusp of annihilation.

Murok wondered what would replace the Covenant and angrily accused Thel of allying with the Sangheili's worst enemies, holding fruitless peace talks with the [[Jiralhanae]] and returning their laborers from Sangheili lands to the so-called [[Ghost Father]] and allowing humans to set foot on the sacred grounds of their home. Murok was particularly enraged by Thel elevating females and Unggoy to ranks that he saw as unbecoming of their nature and sheltering healers in the camp. All of this was the same argument he had heard from every staunch traditionalist of frustratingly limited vision. Thel admitted that he had felt nothing while killing the [[Prophet of Truth]] and Murok made a speech to the Swords of Sanghelios, declaring that without the Covenant, the galaxy would be left locked in perpetual combat while the Sangheili paid tribute to unworthy warlords and all that made them strong faded. While Thel would've once killed Murok for such an act of defiance and the darkness inside of him whispered that Murok was a heretic who needed to be silenced, Thel did not hate Murok and only pitied him. Thel decapitated Murok with the [[Prophets' Bane]] as a punishment for his betrayal and Murok's corpse tumbled off of the cliff he was standing on.{{Ref/Reuse|FC}}
