The M6/X Spartan Laser is one of a myriad of variants of the [[M6 Spartan Laser|M6Grindell/Galilean Nonlinear Rifle]], an initially exorbitantly expensive weapon which underwent several refinements and iterations to reduce its cost.{{Ref/Reuse|hw}} As with all variants of the Spartan Laser, the M6/X has an integrated and [[Smart-linking|smart-linked]] [[Wyrd optics suite|Wyrd III optics suite]], capable of 3× magnification.{{Ref/Reuse|enc22}} The weapon is also equipped with a foldable targeting display on its side, much like the [[M6/V Spartan Laser]].{{Ref/Reuse|h4evg}} Powered by [[Series 6971 battery cell]]s,{{Ref/Reuse|h4evg}}{{Ref/Reuse|hw}} the M6/X employs an experimental alternating power distributor that was considered a revolutionary modification.{{Ref/Reuse|enc22}}
