If you activated all the knives, a checkpoint will occur. The room will start to rumble, and then the door explodes. During this time, your weapons will be replaced with a Prophets' Bane and a Plasma Pistol. You also gain active camouflage as an oversized Promethean Knight and the Warden Eternal come through the door located in front. The Warden is much taller than he normally is, and seems to have a little more health.

Discovery
A user named CriptixZ is credited for the original discovery. He and his friend had started the first campaign mission co-op on Legendary. However, due to his friend's Internet problems he was forced to wait. While waiting, he explored the area and came upon the first knife. After getting impatient, he punched the knife out of boredom. That's when it was lit on fire. At first, he searched the Internet, not knowing if it was a bug or something else entirely. Not seeing anything about it, he created a thread at HaloWaypoint.
The thread became popular, and soon many were trying to find additional knifes in the mission. The second knife was eventually found by the users xt0rted and Larry Taang, who had been investigating the strange easter egg. xt0rted also managed to find the 3 following knives, while user ericdk found the 6th. Not long after, ZTG IPesty and ericdk claimed the last one. ericdk also uploaded the 7th knife location along with the events afterwards to his Xbox account page, revealing the knives' true purpose.
Soon afterwards, many contributors to the find created videos showing the locations of all the knives.
