The '''Sniper Rifle''' is a weapon featured in ''[[Halo: Combat Evolved]]'' and its remaster, ''[[Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary|Combat Evolved Anniversary]]''. It is one of the most powerful weapons throughout the game, and has since gone on to appear in nearly all subsequent games in the series.

The Sniper Rifle is notably introduced in ''Halo'' during the third campaign level, [[The Truth and Reconciliation]]. In this mission the Sniper is [[Master Chief (gameplay)|the player's]] starting weapon and notably holds much more ammunition than usual (64 rounds, to the regular game's 24) - with the downside of having no ammunition refills available for the weapon at any point in the mission. In ''Anniversary'' and ''[[Halo: The Master Chief Collection|The Master Chief Collection]]'', an [[Close Quarters Combat|achievement]] is awarded for completing the level with at least four rounds left in the weapon. Elsewhere the weapon can be found on the level [[Assault on the Control Room]] (including one instance notably held by [[CE:Sergeant Johnson|Sergeant Johnson]], [[Two Betrayals]] and [[Keyes]].

The Sniper Rifle is one of two weapons in the game (alongside the [[CE:Pistol|Pistol]]) capable of performing a [[headshot]], notably making it one of two weapons able to reliably kill a [[CE:Hunter|Hunter]] in one hit.
