This can also be achieved by simply using the turret and breaking the turret off normally in Forge. This may or may not work on all levels. Another way to do this is to turn on indestructible vehicles and just pull it off regularly (hop on it then press B).

The Turret Detach Glitch is a glitch that only works on Halo 3.

While trying to detach a turret, let go. There should be a turret in your hands and one still on its original place. This can also be performed in Forge mode. Simply use a turret as normal, and then get a nearby player to turn into the Forge monitor. Have them move you around and press B to detach. You will then have an equipped turret and the ability to use the normal turret as usual.

This can also be achieved by simply using the turret and breaking the turret off normally in Forge. This may or may not work on all levels. Another way to do this is to turn on indestructible vehicles and just pull it off regularly (hop on it then press B).

Also, in campaign mode, if player 1 (master chief) crosses a spawn point at the exact same time player 2 (the arbiter) detaches a turret, player 2 will spawn but will lose control of his character. Noticeable effects are, the top and bottom screen will both show the master chief's view, separated by a random patch of black and green, with the bottom screen displaying the arbiter's style shield bar and a permanent "press B to detach turret" message. The top screen will show the targeting reticule of the current weapon, but the bottom screen will show the turret's reticule. In this state, it is possible to walk into walls and see outside the map.
