Project GUNGNIR was a top-secret program under the supervision of the Office of Naval Intelligence [1].
Trivia
- "GUNGNIR" was first mentioned on a large plaque near the outside walkways of the ONI Alpha Site in New Mombasa, Kenya on Earth.
- It is possible that due to it being mentioned with two SPARTAN-related programs, the "GUNGNIR" project is a new development or group within the SPARTAN ranks.
- It is possible that Gungnir was the codename for the development of the Weapon/Anti-Vehicle Model 6 Grindell/Galilean Nonlinear Rifle, considering the weapon's abbreviation: W/A M6 G/GNR. This is also backed up by the fact Gungnir of mythology was an extremely accurate weapon, as is the Spartan Laser. It is also supported by the fact that the symbol for Gungnir is located on the side of the Spartan Laser
