In 2373, humanity colonized the Kennewick system, establishing the planet Ballast as an Inner Colony.[1][2] The Covenant attacked Ballast in 2550, though they were ultimately unsuccessful in glassing the planet,[1] with rumors circulating that the UNSC had managed to repel the attackers.[2]
