Despondent Pyre AI Matrix
Despondent Pyre's encephalon

An Encephalon[1] is a piece of Forerunner technology and a vital part of a Monitor. It contains, among other things, the codes needed to start (and stop) the Reformation. Like an Activation index, an encephalon can be stored in digital format.[2]

History

On May 28, 2560, the Harbinger forcibly extracted Despondent Pyre's encephalon. She subsequently used it to initiate the Reformation aimed a restoring the Silent Auditorium on Zeta Halo.[3] The Weapon later stole the encephalon from the Harbinger and used it to shut down all the Reformation Spires.[2][1]

Trivia

Encephalon is another word for brain.
