A Covenant Storage Device is a form of storage for Covenant information, similar to the UNSC's own Data Crystal Chips. The block consists of a brick shaped-chunk of a superdense material unknown to Humans. Its capacity is apparently unknown also, but it is likely to be numeral.[1]

Though Humans do not fully understand the technology, they are still capable of retrieving the data from these devices, or their AI constructs can at least.[1]

Trivia

  • The Covenant Storage Device was thought to hold Cortana in it. After fighting through the level, the Master Chief manages to retrieve it in the level Floodgate. Later when the device is repaired, it turns out to only contain a message from Cortana from High Charity.
  • In Halo: Combat Evolved, these devices can be seen on the sides of some of the Covenant storage crates.
