During the [[Battle of the Flood-controlled Shield World]], Charlie Platoon encountered [[Flood|unknown aliens]] while patrolling the base established by the {{UNSCShip|Spirit of Fire}}, managing to destroy the coordinating forms. When the ''Spirit of Fire'' was attacked by [[Forerunner]] [[Sentinels]], [[Serina]] attempted to evacuate the platoon directly, but the [[Dropship 77-Troop Carrier|dropships]] were forced to turn back by hostile aerial forms. Along with [[Alpha Platoon]] and [[Bravo Platoon]], Charlie Platoon fought its way on the ground through the aliens to get back to base, where they were finally evacuated. The base was abandoned to the aliens, now empty of personnel.<ref name="HW"/>

Charlie Platoon was a part of the UNSC Marine contingent aboard the UNSC Spirit of Fire in 2531. It consisted of several infantry squads and Spartan-II Red Team.[1]

During the Battle of Trove, Charlie Platoon, along with Alpha Platoon and Bravo Platoon, was left on the planet's surface, trapped behind a region infested with Flood structures and biomass, when the UNSC Spirit of Fire was being pulled into the one of the many portals that connected the Shield World's surface to its interior. Under the leadership of Sergeant John Forge and Captain James Cutter, UNSC ground forces were able to destroy the Flood infestation between the three platoons and UNSC firebase, securing an escape path for Charlie Platoon. While the first two platoons returned to the UNSC Spirit of Fire through D77-TC Pelican extraction, the third platoon was forced to fight its way back to the firebase on foot. Regardless, all surviving Marines in Charlie Platoon returned to the UNSC Spirit of Fire.[1]

Charlie Platoon is one of the three platoons players need to rescue in the Halo Wars campaign level Shield World. They can be saved in any order, and if Charlie Platoon is one of the first two platoons to be rescued, the player is rewarded with the Spartan hero units from Red Team.[1]
