The 79th Infantry Battalion was a Marine Corps infantry battalion attached to the UNSC Pillar of Autumn in 2552.[1]
History[edit]

Elements of the battalion were assigned to the Pillar of Autumn by September 2552, when the vessel arrived at Installation 04. Following the outbreak of the virulent Flood on the ring, the survivor elements of the battalion were beset upon by the parasite. Eventually, one survivor, an unidentified Private First-Class, would use the transmitter of lifeboat Lima Foxtrot Alpha 19 to send out an SOS, though eventually committed suicide with an M6C magnum as the Flood closed in.[1]
The Office of Naval Intelligence would later pick up this transmission, dubbing it Entry 47-2396/10763.[1]
