History
Originally created in 1862 by the United States Congress, the Medal of Honor has been used continuously for almost eight hundred years. Its conception should not be confused with the Badge of Military Merit, or the Certificate of Merit Medal. The first recipient was Private Jacob Parrot of Ohio of the Union Army during the American Civil War. Its appearance has remained virtually the same since the 1940's. However, instead of being worn around the neck as the members of the United States military, the UNSC Medal of Honor is a medal worn with all other medals, on the chest of the wearer.
