The Fusion Core is a United Nations Space Command device used as an energy source in ground operations. They are explosive objects matte black in color and rectangular in shape overlaid with what appears to be austere gold circuitry overlaid over the surface. They can be found on various Halo 2 multiplayer maps, such as Foundation and Ivory Tower.

Several shots can detonate these voliatile core, often exploding with suffecient force to severely wound or kill a nearby Sangheili or SPARTAN-II. The explosion is a bloom of pink superheated gas and sparks.
