The objective of the game is to kill all of the [[Huragok|Engineers]] floating in the air with one [[Warthog jumping|Warthog launch]]. There are three sliders on the bottom of the screen that control the placement of the Warthog, the placement of the [[grenade]] pile underneath the Warthog, and the number of grenades in that pile.

There are 40 levels total in ''Warthog Launch'', with a bonus 41st level that BOLL deemed "impossible".{{Ref/Reuse|YT}} The Flash version doesn't label this bonus level, but the [[Xbox 360]] port of the game calls it "Level 42", as the congratulations screen is labelled as the 41st level instead.{{Ref/Generic|[[Halo 3 Limited Edition]]|Warthog Launch|level 42}}

''Warthog Launch'' was first conceived when BOLL watched one of [[Randall Glass]]'s [[Warthog jumping]] videos prior to ''[[Halo: Combat Evolved]]''{{'}}s release in Europe.

The Engineers that are used as targets are based on their cut ''Combat Evolved'' models that remained in the game. BOLL discovered the Engineers when he utilised a hex editor and a list of memory addresses linked to textures and models in the game to spawn in the cut Covenant species.{{Ref/Reuse|YT}}

''Warthog Launch'' was submitted to halo.bungie.org on February 24, 2004, where it became so popular that HBO would deal with slowdowns, and the game would be unofficially mirrored on other websites such as [[Wikipedia:eBaum's World|Ebaumsworld]] and [[Wikipedia:Albino Blacksheep|Albino Blacksheep]] without BOLL's permission nor credit.{{Ref/Site|URL=https://halo.bungie.org/news.html?item=9078|Site=halo.bungie.org|Page=Of Warthogs, and Launches|D=27|M=01|Y=2026}}

The game was ported to the Xbox 360 with the release of the [[Halo 3 Limited Edition|Limited]] and [[Halo 3 Legendary Edition|Legendary Editions]] of ''[[Halo 3]]'' on September 25, 2007. [[Film Oasis]], the company that assembled these editions' bonus disc, received ''Warthog Launch''{{'}}s source code from BOLL, and he was compensated with Xbox merchandise, including an Xbox 360 Elite and the ''Halo 3'' Legendary Edition, with the Master Chief's helmet signed by the team.{{Ref/Reuse|YT}}

Incidentally, ''Warthog Launch'' was the first, albeit unofficial, appearance of Engineers in an Xbox ''Halo'' title, about a year before the release of ''[[Halo 3: ODST]]''.
