This creature is an aquatic predatory animal native to Sanghelios. It possesses several tentacles, similar to those of Earth's cephalopods.

While fighting boat-to-boat duels during their training, the future Shipmaster of the Fleet of Righteous Vigilance and some of his clanmates encountered one of these creatures. After the future Shipmaster knocked his opponent off the boat, the creature noticed the splashes and attempted to drown the Sangheili who had been knocked off of the boat. The Sangheili could not fight against the creature's strength, and presumably drowned and was consumed by the creature. Years later, the Shipmaster expressed no pity for his clanmate, noting that only the worthy would survive.
This Unidentified sea creature is life form which inhabits a currently unknown planet. Though its full body and scale size remain a mystery. It appears to have various tentacles similar to various Cephalopods on Earth. It was first encountered when an a group of Sangheili were duelling on a boat, sailing over a large body of Water as part of their training. One Sangheili successfully managed to knock his opponent off of the boat. The sea creature then proceeded to attack and drown him. The Sangheili could not fight against the creature's strength and either succumbed to a watery grave or was eaten by the creature.

Trivia
Trivia
The scene in which the creature attacks a Sangheili is quite similar to the scene in Halo 2 where John-117 is captured by the Gravemind on Installation 05.
*The way the creature kills its prey is quite similar to how John-117 was captured by the Gravemind on Installation 05.
