Forerunner Origins?[edit]

Does anyone else think that this ship looks almost Forerunner in origin? I'm not suggesting that it is infact a Forerunner ship, but that human technology by the year 2589 has advanced to reverse-engineering of Forerunner technology.--File:PENGUIN4.gif|15px]]FluffyEmoPenguin(ice quack!) 17:42, 7 November 2010 (EST)

Or maybe the Covenant has given us (humanity) some of their Forerunner technology in order to repopulate the worlds they glassed during the War. --KaragouniS 19:13, 7 November 2010 (EST)

Well maybe it is a Forerunner ship.I mean all of the forerunner technology that was discovered was destroyed.Plus there are a bunch of Forerunner artifacts under Reach.Plus the covenant technology didin't look like a tenth of the forerunner technology.Plus, I listened to the legendary commentary and they did say it was a colony ship but they didn't say it was UNSC so in my opinion, it is a Forerunner ship with Forerunners in it.Jamesgg521 17:24, 24 November 2010 (EST)

You can argue that it looks Forerunner, but really, humanity seems top have developed a similar fetish for blocky angles and slants in the 26th century. At times, I thought some of the architecture and geometry in New Alexandria looked very Forerunner. So without any followup material or explanations from Bungie/343i, there seems to be little real evidence that its Forerunner. Forerunner inspired, though, is a different matter - as you said, there's all those relics under Reach, and humanity must spend some time post-war reverse-engineering the portal and other Covenant/Forerunner tech. -- Specops306 Autocrat Qur'a 'Morhek 18:32, 24 November 2010 (EST)

Yes, but what is the proof of it being human in the first place! Thats what Im saying and dont say it said so in the legendary commentary because I watched the ending three times to make sure and they just say colony ship, not human ship in any way.Jamesgg521 19:50, 8 December 2010 (EST)

It is a UNSC ship. Even if it was co-designed by covenant using forerunner tech, it is still utilized by the UNSC and therefore is a UNSC ship. There's no way it could be forerunner and not be mentioned as being such. If they added a forerunner cameo in Reach that would detract from the whole storyline of the game--Ender the Xenocide 20:03, 8 December 2010 (EST)

Can someone please show some proof saying that it is Human, Covenant, Sangheili or forerunner before saying it is or it isn't Alertfiend 21:42, 28 January 2011 (EST)

It's simple really the Forerunners are dead, extinct, whatever it can't be Forerunner or Covenant. Covenant ships are bulbous in design. It is human#@lof@n1234 19:24, 4 February 2011 (EST)

Well we dont know if they are dead and it can be Sangheili ever think of that or Kig-yar 207.6.168.201 20:20, 24 February 2011 (EST)

Well if it was elites or jackals then the ship would look covenant in design not human#@lof@n1234-Forgive My English 20:57, 24 February 2011 (EST)

.... have you played halo 2/3 the elites split from the covenant and couldn't build more of the ships and the jackels already have there own ships before they joined the covenant same with the elites so they could have made more next 207.6.168.201 00:54, 8 March 2011 (EST)

The Covenant use ships that are dominated by Sangheili and Prophet aesthetics, hybridised into the "Covenant" style. Elite ships would still bear resemblance to those of the Covenant, even if they could build them. And while the Kig-Yar did have ships, they were essentially intra-system craft - no slipspace or FTL systems, limiting them to their own space. Hence why they were so willing to work with humans in exchange for slipspace drives. -- Specops306 Autocrat Qur'a 'Morhek 02:45, 8 March 2011 (EST)

and you got that from? 207.6.168.201 21:49, 19 March 2011 (EDT)

The Cole Protocol you should get familiar with the halo universeForgive My English 21:54, 19 March 2011 (EDT)

Regardless of whether it could be Covenant or Forerunner-inspired, I think it's jumping to conclusions to say much of anything about what sort of ship it is (other than a human vessel). We don't even know if it is a colony ship or not - it just ended up being called that because it's seen landing on a newly terraformed planet. For all we know, it could be a corvette, a civilian ship or any other run-of-the-mill human vessel. The design (in my opinion) does not look particularly unusual, and it doesn't have either the purplish color scheme/organic shape of Covenant vessels or the rather unconventional geometric design of Forerunner ships. If I had to guess, I would say it's probably just an ordinary civilian ship used by Halsey and co. to come down to Reach's surface for a visit SPARTAN-347 22:07, 19 March 2011 (EDT)

I think it was called a colony ship in the Reach developer commentary. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 08:54, 20 March 2011 (EDT)

Oh, nevermind then - I always thought someone just called it that as a guess, and the name stuck SPARTAN-347 14:53, 20 March 2011 (EDT)

I have the Cole protocal and i didnt see it page number? anyways unless the humans developed there ships to make it look like that then it isnt human Alertfiend 21:25, 28 April 2011 (EDT)

we've already discussed this it's human!!!!!!!!! Forgive My English TALK TO ME BABY 00:01, 29 April 2011 (EDT)

I dont really wont to start this thing but you still need proof and so far no one has set it forward Alertfiend 10:59, 29 April 2011 (EDT)

Why are you guys still arguing? The Covenant's ships were inspired by the Sangheili's architecture, and only the San 'Shyuum know how to build the ships as per their role as scientists (hell, just modifying a weapon without the concent of the Hierarchs is treasonous) - therefore, no other member of the Covenant is well-versed in ship designing, with the only exception being the Kig-yar, who don't utilise vessels like that. The Forerunners have been dead for a hundred thousand years, and always show a more artistic approach to architecture - everything has to be symmetrical and angular (triangles are very common). The only remaining conclusion is that it is human-based. While you could argue that it is a Sangheili-crewed ship, it is nonetheless of human design.-- Forerunner 11:37, 29 April 2011 (EDT)
Agreed. Why would a Covie or Forerunner ship "return" to a re-terraformed Reach? If you read Glasslands then you'll find out Humans [will] acquire Foreunner tech inside the dyson sphere. So the beginning of Forerunner designs will begin. It's Human built, Human crewed. Nuff said. --Killamint 11:07, 20 May 2012 (EDT)

Foresight[edit]

We obviously agree it looks Forerunner, but do you think that Bungie had planed for humanity to start revers engiering Forerunner tech as stated in glasslands or do you think it's just a coincidence the ship looks so forerunner-y? Jac0bBau3r1995 02:08, 22 March 2012 (EDT)

Yes, I read Glasslands and the UNSC traveled to the dyson sphere that was brought into real space by the Huragok. From there they were going to acquire forerunner tech, particularly a FTL drive for the UNSC Infinity. So yes, that was Bungie's intention but that will be continued with 343i in Halo 4. As for the Unidentifed colony ship, I don't think that will be the last time we see it given the continuation of Halo with the reclaimer trilogy. --Killamint 10:57, 20 May 2012 (EDT)
