== 789 BCE, Rantu and Rentus ==

First, where does the 789 BCE date for the beginning of the conflict come from? The Encyclopedia is cited but the timeline on pg. 30 only mentions 784 BCE as the date the Lekgolo joined the Covenant. Is there a mention of a five-year conflict somewhere?

Also, there seems to be a discrepancy between Catalog's statement about first contact and the ''Halo 2 Anniversary'' terminal. [[Catalog/Archive|According to Catalog]], first contact with Hunters (whether this means Lekgolo or Mgalekgolo is up for debate) was made on Rentus in 784 BCE. Catalog also refers to Encyclopedia page 30 for the date, although said page only states this is when they were incorporated to the Covenant.

Meanwhile, the terminal clearly indicates that the encounter on Rantu was the first time the Covenant observed the Mgalekgolo (with a possible suggestion that the Lekgolo created bipedal forms to mimic the Arbiter). It's possible that Rantu was mislabeled in the terminal description, or that Catalog was wrong about Rentus. It did, after all, state that its statements may be overridden at any time by superior canon. The terminal also deviates somewhat from what we know from the Bestiarum, as it's suggested that the Covenant didn't learn the "Lekgolo's secret" (ie. their ability to combine) until the Arbiter's encounter. However, this can be seen as basic simplification for terminal narrative purposes, and/or historic embellishment by the Covenant scribe.
