Name?[edit]

What if Bornstellar's full name is just "Bornstellar Makes Eternal"? The only source that we have for Bornstellar's full name including the word "Lasting" (at least as far as I can remember) is the front flap. Other than that, he's either referred to as "Bornstellar" or "Bornstellar Makes Eternal" (on pg. 218 and 261). Since the front flap was probably written either before/after the actual book was written, which should we consider more accurate?

Just thought I'd throw that out there. Having "Eternal" and "Lasting" right next to each other never made grammatical sense, anyway.

He does include "lasting" when he gives his full name to Chakas and Riser in one of the first chapters (don't have my book on me), so I think it must be legit... My guess is that everyone else just shortens his name for convenience, it's kind of a mouthful SPARTAN-347 23:03, 7 March 2011 (EST)

Vegerot (talk) 23:07, 7 March 2011 (EST): Yeah, that is a mouthful, but I bet you're used to that. So it's O.K.

Baffler vs Dazzler[edit]

If I remember correctly, than the mentioned baffler in the article is actually a dazzler. When Born approaches the Cryptum he thinks he is being manipulated by a baffler, but he also mentions the possibility of it being a dazzler. And when he finally reaches the Cryptum he states something like it had been a dazzler after all.

So perhaps I'm a bit picky, but if I'm right, shouldn't the article be corrected?

Userbox Image[edit]

Just remembered: Mendicant Bias's page uses an image from Origins for its main pic. But here the Didact image from Origins was kept out of the userbox. There was also a time when we used Origins' depictions of Forerunners for its main image. Then should the Bias pic be taken down or this Didact pic restored? Tuckerscreator(stalk) 03:30, 15 February 2013 (EST)

It does but it's different from this article in that Mendicant is housed in "a number of different physical systems". The one from Origin seems to fit this description. — subtank 04:26, 15 February 2013 (EST)

Not really. If I remember correctly, the Oracle at High Charity that turns out to be MB is said to have one eye, and this one has three. And I don't see how that pic resembles anything about being housed in different systems. Tuckerscreator(stalk) 18:39, 15 February 2013 (EST)

either both go, or both stay. Mendicant was also known as "green eye" in Halo Primordium so he has clearly been depicted wrong, since it is Cortanas imagination. I'd say we keep both images, and clearly point out it is a likely false depiction; but it is the only one we have atm.--Reclaimer-117 (talk) 21:19, 18 February 2013 (EST)

Yeah, agreed. Seems a double standard. Tuckerscreator(stalk) 00:29, 19 February 2013 (EST)

"Housed in different systems" can be interpreted as being it is stored in different shells/devices/boxes. You can place an AI from a futuristic microwave to a futuristic coffee maker and it would still be referred to as being stored in a different system (regardless of how many "eyes" that machine has). It is not limited to just one green eye and can vary to even three eyes. — subtank 01:58, 19 February 2013 (EST)

Perhaps, but it still feels like a flimsy reason. The design given in Origins is pretty much retconned and if Bias makes a later physical appearance, it probably will be like the Forerunners' appearances in Origins was. Tuckerscreator(stalk) 13:00, 19 February 2013 (EST)

Symbol[edit]

Hey uh, shouldn't the bornstellar-didact symbol be added to here? It's on the ur-didact's page but not this one... Erickyboo (talk) 17:46, 19 February 2013 (EST)

Halo: Silentium confirms this is the IsoDidact.—This unsigned comment was made by 66.87.0.111 (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

How does it confirm that this is the IsoDidact? Spark is just floating in front of a Forerunner. They don't share a conversation or anything. -- SFH (talk) 18:45, 17 April 2013 (EDT)
For all we know, it could literally be any Forerunner. There's nothing in that picture that indicates who that is. Also, I would expect the IsoDidact to be wearing more unique armor than that.--Spartacus TalkContribs 19:50, 17 April 2013 (EDT)
It confirms it because the scene in that picture is depicted near the end of the book: The 7 monitors gathered aboard a Lifeworker ship to receive their Indexes. And at one point in that scene 343 GS is floating in front of the IsoDidact.—This unsigned comment was made by 66.87.0.111 (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~
Like I said earlier, it's just a random Forerunner as far as we know. Unless 343i comes out and says that's the IsoDidact, it stays off the article.--Spartacus TalkContribs 11:08, 18 April 2013 (EDT)

Age[edit]

So the IsoDidact (or Bornstellar, I think) was twelve years old when he activated the Halo rings? If that's true, then in terms of age, he would be considered an infant in comparison with the older Forerunners. Don't know if the Ur-Didact's brevet mutation also affected Bornstellar's age though. S.g.ali (talk) 15:05, 28 September 2013 (EDT)

In the strictest chronological sense, he would've been twenty-ish when he fired the Halos (there's a few years between Cryptum and the end of Silentium, but no more than a decade); a mutation can hardly affect that. But given the fact he carries the Ur-Didact's pattern and, by extension, his consciousness and knowledge, he is effectively considered to be equal to the original in every way, including age. As Splendid Dust of Ancient Suns put it, (as a retort to Glory of a Far Dawn), "You idiot! He's got the imprint of the Didact! He's ten thousand years to your twenty!" Which does, in turn, raise a question about the Ur-Didact's age: if he literally means that the Didact is ten thousand years old, he would've been awfully young to be the supreme commander of all Forerunner forces in the human-Forerunner wars ten thousand years earlier. Maybe he's just speaking very generally to make a point.--Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 08:31, 29 September 2013 (EDT)

Name change[edit]

After looking over his role in the series, while obviously his role as the Iso-Didact is a major part of his character, I feel like the article should be renamed Bornstellar. With it being his original personality, and he later returns to using his old identity after Silentium. So overall I don't think he spends that much time as the Iso-Didact and it should just be mentioned instead of being the page name.--Guardian117 (talk) 07:36, June 15, 2020 (EDT)
