| ::I agree on the use of Symbol 1, but I think the second reason matters more than the first. If Symbol 1 is all that has been used for the original Covenant, with no canon examples of Symbol 2 for them, then that's the reason to use it. Simply giving Jul's Covenant and the original Covenant different symbols isn't as strong a reason, since Jul considered his Covenant to be a continuation of the first so reusing the old logo would tie into that.
