The Impact variant of the VK78 Commando has increased damage and expanded magazine capacity from 20 to 40 rounds, though with reduced accuracy.{{Ref/Reuse|forge}} It has additional yellow coloration on certain components, including a yellow stripe across the heatshield and the forearm as well as the magazine.{{Ref/Reuse|gameplay}}

In campaign, the Impact Commando is a [[Legendary variant weapons|legendary weapon]] awarded to the player in the [[Forward Operating Base]] progression system upon reaching 2,700 [[Valor]]. The weapon can be acquired at any Forward Operating Base. It has an increased magazine size from 20 to 40 and an increased maximum ammo capacity of 280. Each round deals more damage, killing a fully-shielded Spartan with 7-10 rounds instead of 9-15 rounds (6 rounds to break shields and 4 unshielded bodyshots or 1 unshielded headshot). However, it has reduced accuracy via greater bloom. The optic magnification is also reduced from 2× to 1.4×.{{Ref/Reuse|gameplay}}

In multiplayer, when players pick up or spawn with the Impact Commando, their [[Weapon customization|customization options]] are automatically applied to the weapon model, and the unique appearance of the Impact Commando is lost.
