Sergeant Zhao Heng Lopez was a UNSC Marine stationed aboard the UNSC Red Horse in 2552. A long time veteran of the Human-Covenant War, Lopez led a small squad aboard the UNSC prisoner ship, UNSC Mona Lisa where she was ambushed by an unknown hostile. After the ambush, Lopez and her men split up into two teams. While scouting the medical bay, Lopez finds an ONI Major named Smith locked inside a storage closet/saferoom. As they interrogate Smith about the experiments with the prisoner and the Flood, Smith breaks free and kills two members of Lopez's team with a concealed knife, leaving her with MacGraw. After the incident, Lopez and MacGraw head to the bridge of he Mona Lisa in order to iniatate the Cole Protocol. There they learn that not only has Smith stolen their only Pelican, but a Shiva Nuke is being prepared to be launched at the Mona Lisa. The Captain of the Red Horse then tells Lopez that there are two escape pods left on the lower deck, leaving out that the pods were only meant for single ocupants. As Lopez and MacGraw defend the pods, Ngoc Benti arrives with Clarence and two new additions, a prisoner named Rimmer and his companion Henry (Sangheili). Clarence, under strict orders from ONI to not let anything but the Marines leave the ship, executes Rimmer. Henry, madden with grief, begins to strike at Clarence with his criket bat until Benti, already heavily wounded on the way and showing signs of infection, sacrafices her life by pushing both herself and Clarence into the oncoming Flood horde. MacGraw then escapes in one of the escape pods, leaving both Henry and Lopez to fend for themselves. As the timer for the Shiva launch reaces 30 seconds, Lopez and Henry flee into the airdock only to find that the pod cannot fit them both. Lopez is last seen fighting with Henry for the escape pod with only 10 seconds to spare.

Trivia

  • Lopez may be religious as she constantly remembers the smell of pews at her mother's church and usually refers to her men as her Rosary Beads
  • It is highly possible that Lopez died in the fight for the pod as she was already wounded and had no ammo left in her MA5B ICWS Assault Rifle. Even if she survive the fight, she would of still died in the blast of the Shiva Nuke.
