UNSC Thermopylae

The UNSC Thermopylae was a destroyer in the UNSC Navy during the Human-Covenant War.

Background

The ship was part of Battle Group Sierra-3 at the Battle of 18 Scorpii in 2543. During the battle, the Thermopylae took moderate damage and would likely have been destroyed, but she and the rest of Battle Group 3 was saved by Insurrectionist forces.

Trivia

• The ship is named for the famous Battle of Thermopylae, where the 300 Spartans made a last stand against the Persian Empire during 480 B.C.E.
• The Battle of Thermopylae, which the ship is named for, was fought by Spartans. Who were considered the best warriors of Ancient Greece at the time. Ironically the best human warriors during the Human-Covenant War were also known as Spartans.
