The UNSC Herodotus was a UNSC Destroyer that saw action at the Battle of Reach. During the battle it was destroyed by a so-called Covenant Supercruiser using a previously unknown weapon. This weapon projected a needle-thin beam of charged energy particles from a distance of one hundred thousand kilometers that bisected the ship from bow to stern and would later become known as an Energy Projector.
