Hey, sorry for the slow response; it's been a busy week for me. You have figured out exactly what I would have suggested, so well done, haha! I've gone ahead and tried it. I think you forgot to add in a extra set of closing brackets "}}", so the wiki had trouble interpreting it. Regardless, nice job on figuring it out!

Anytime you want to show the wiki editing language without having it work, you can put all of it in <nowiki></nowiki>.

For example, <nowiki>{{Ref/Twitter|HaloSupport|1549504301273206785|Halo Support}}</nowiki> should make this:

{{Ref/Twitter|HaloSupport|1549504301273206785|Halo Support}}

I've gotten that challenge this week too, but I was hoping to see if there's a Legendary tier for that challenge. Thanks anyway, haha!

Hey FamilyGuy0395, hope you're well!

Can you help me keep an eye out for the requirements for the Rumble Royalty challenge in Halo Infinite?

I think 343i recently update the requirement of this challenge from:

"Win Matches in Rumble Pit"

to:

"Finish in the Top Four in Rumble Pit"

However, I'm not sure if the challenge requirement has actually changed. The wikipage only had the Legendary tier requirement, which was "Win 3 Matches in Rumble Pit", and this week one of my challenges was "Finish in the Top Four in Rumble Pit once" at the Heroic tier. I can't confirm if the Legendary tier requirement actually changed as well. So, please keep an eye out for me, and see if the Legendary tier of the challenge also changed!

Thanks!

You are correct, I've gone and fixed the filename, removing the slashes and making it less vague. Should be fine now.

Slashes also wouldn't be allowed on filenames either, because that's how we create subpages, like Challenges and its subpage Challenges/Halo Infinite. “Submit modified file description” is always a-okay. I can try uploading the file later today.

Are you trying to upload the file with the brackets in the “HUL[I]” part of the name? Since brackets are used in the editing language (for linking a URL), it’s probably not possible to keep in the file name. The uploading process checks for this and automatically removes the bracket. So “Submit modified file description” would be just fine.

I noticed the PvP additions! I’ve been a little busy with real life stuff, so I’m ready glad you’re around to keep the page updated. Keep up the great work!

Yes, but only for the Ultimate challenges.

I'll keep that in mind! Let's keep in the Ultimate challenges for now.

It is something I find myself jumping between either sides. It's not a bad idea to be concise and just have a note above the Ultimate challenges. I kinda like that uniformity we'd have across different sections in the page.

However, I am also thinking about potential issues in the future. In the very very very very unlikely case that we get an Ultimate challenge that can be completed outside of PvP, it would invalidate that same note. I'd say preserving the original requirement would be better for the Ultimate challenges, because we can argue that the only reason why we removed the "PVP" from the descriptions is because the non-Ultimate challenges do have "variations" - in the minor form of PvP being omitted from the Normal tier challenges - thus necessitating the system we have now. Ultimate challenges do not have this variation, so they do not need this system. I want to say, by default, we should be going for archival purposes, which would be keeping the PvP in the Ultimate challenge requirements.

There's definitely no right or wrong way to do this, but I am leaning towards keeping the PvP in the Ultimate challenges. That being said, it's not something I'd die to keep.

What are your thoughts on my thoughts? Always a pleasure :)

Fixed! Don't worry about it! We all make mistakes.

That seems right to me, I checked Waypoint and my own game. "Got Your Back" is the Challenge name while "Spring Mountain" is the Stance name. Even the official Halo Twitter says so: https://twitter.com/Halo/status/1531727474748542976

Maybe there was a bug that displayed "Got Your Back" as the stance name in-game and 343 Industries corrected it?

It's perfect! No need to think too hard about the categories; if there's only one thing in the image, chances are there's only one or two image categories. Keep it up!

There are two ways to add categories when you're uploading a file.

When you upload a file, there's a "Categories" bar at the bottom of the "File description" section. You can press the blue (+), which then allows you to type in the Category name, and it comes with a dropdown suggestion box if you need help looking up the Category name - be sure to press "OK" afterwards to confirm the addition.

Alternatively, you can press the blue "[Show]" before "summary result" just above the Categories bar - this will allow you to preview and edit what would be in the "Summary" section once you upload the file. If you have multiple categories that you want to copy over from an existing file, you can directly paste them here after the "}}". Keep in mind that the content in this box would automatically update if you change anything in the dropdown menus above (Media type, Halo media, Game, file type, etc.), and that update process would also remove any manual changes you've made in the box, including categories. So add the category last to avoid losing any manual changes you'd make!

Hope that wasn't too confusing. Let me know if you got other questions!

Any subject that warrants its own article on wiki would usually warrant a corresponding image category. We have Category:Images of John-117, Category:Images of Warthog, and Category:Images of MA40 assault rifle for things that appear frequently. Certain things are in a more general category, like Category:Images of Forerunner technology.

Unfortunately, I don't think there's a way to search for image categories with a keyword (other than typing in "Category:Images of" into the search bar and look through the suggestions). You can also try looking up the character/weapon/vehicle/armor and check whether its images are in an image category themselves - usually the wiki page's gallery section would have a box (called the "Linkbox") that says "Browse more images in this article's gallery page.", like here. The "gallery page" is in fact the image category page which lists out every image inside that image category. If they don't have this Linkbox, then you can check other images containing the same item, press edit, and check if they are in an image category.

As for adding an image category, it's fairly simple, you just need to type in the image category at the bottom of the file's "page", like how Sith Venator has done with [[Category:Images of Eaglestrike]] here. This will automatically add the image into the image category.

I hope that wasn't too much information at once, so do let me know if you got more questions. I gotta say, I really like how eager you are to learn the wiki stuff! Keep up the great work!

Hey FamilyGuy0395! I'd say do not be afraid to replace those numbers. The page was created when Infinite first came out, and keep in mind: 343 Industries has since updated some of the challenges, supposedly making some of them easier, and even removing some of the hardest ones! In other words, treat the new required number as the most updated and most correct one.

And yes, I think this means some of the challenges in the lists might not even exist anymore! Unfortunately, we won't know which ones those would be, so I'm not sure what to do with them.

No worries! Check out how it would look with Scrollbox here: User:JackVibe/Sandbox

It doesn’t seem to work on mobile view though!

I think that's a legitimate concern, and I'm open to brainstorming! I can think of two solutions here: 1) Move the Ultimate Challenge section to the bottom, or 2) Put the Ultimate Challenge table in a Template:Scrollbox, so it always remains the same length.

I will say I personally prefer putting all the non-event challenges first, which is why they are in the order they are in right now, but I can be persuaded! Do you think a Scrollbox would be good?

Great stuff! Thanks for changing the other files too, I didn't know they weren't in the right category.

Hey hey FamilyGuy0395! Don't worry about spamming my inbox! Gonna separate the responses to your questions/suggestions:

  1. Regarding the Summary section's file info table: good idea with adding the file source, but I have asked the staff member who deals with images and their categorisation on the wiki: he said "menuicon" is preferable, mainly because it automatically puts the file into the Category:Halo Infinite menu icons for organising purposes. Furthermore, I think it's fair to say the icons are in-game menu icons foremost and later made accessible on Halo Waypoint. As such, I think it'd be better to categorise all of these files under "menuicon" - I've put them back into that category.
  1. File name for File:HINF_Sacrifice_Emblem.png: "Emblem" actually fits better, because the Sacrifice Nameplate does exist here: File:HINF Nameplate Sacrifice Elder Memories.png.
  1. File names for the various rewards: Only staff members can rename files... Unfortunately, I think we will keep the current names. Some of the coatings aren't exclusive to the a specific weapon (like the Whispered Sky coating also being on BR75 and Sidekick), and ones that are currently exclusive now might not be in the future. The names are less specific now, but this is a good way to avoid giving ourselves more work in the future! Same thing with emblems: the emblem looks the same on weapons, vehicles, and armor, so specifying the Driving Offensively emblem as an armor emblem in the file name would make it less accurate and a little more confusing. As for the visors, we have already uploaded nearly a hundred of other armor customisation icons with the same name convention (i.e., "HINF <Name> <Customisation slot> Icon"), so we probably don't want to rename all these files until we really have to, like if there's a Rampant Yoroi Visor or a Shibuichi Mark VII Visor with different icons that necessitate more specific names. (Oh and shorter names are faster and easier to type! :P)

Overall, since the name convention is already set and in use, we want to keep them consistent across all the files so it would be more intuitive, especially when we are adding files to the articles before the images are even uploaded! I hope you understand why we can't make those changes!

I'm so glad you are making suggestions. Keep up the great work!

It's done, please take a look! I'll look into tweaking the table's colours so the icons aren't so hard to see in light mode. What do you think of the icons' locations though?

posted 2 years ago

That's one possible way to do it! The main issue would be all three tiers occupying the same row of challenge...

I actually thought of a different way where they are in the table headings. I'll give it a try later and let you check out the results!

Hey hey, so I've uploaded some of the Challenge menu icons!

Just a few here: File:HINF Challenges Daily Mythic Icon.png, File:HINF Challenges Weekly Gametype Heroic Icon.png, File:HINF Challenges Weekly Weapon Normal Icon.png, File:HINF Challenges Weekly Action Legendary Icon.png. You can see them all here.

You might need to turn on Dark mode (the "moon" button on the top right) to see them, because they are white icons with transparent backgrounds.

I'm missing a few, mainly the other tiers (Normal, Heroic, and Legendary) for Daily challenges. I'll get them if I hop into the game later. There's also the Legendary one for Weapon challenges. I can't grab it from here, because I don't have a Weapon challenge on Legendary tier this week. I'll grab that next week if I get a challenge of that category. You can give it a try if you do have one this week!

Anyway, do you have any suggestions for integrating them into the table? The easy way to add them to the page would be just throw them into a gallery, but I want to get creative. Would love to hear your thoughts on this!
