The RCS-class armored cruiser is a Covenant capital warship classification.[1]
Background
RCS cruisers are some of the larger classifications of cruisers in the Covenant Navy. Their primary role revolves around planetary patrol and occupation.
Operational history
The RCS's presence during the first Human-Covenant War was largely overshadowed by the more prominent CCS-class battlecruiser. Following the end of the war, however, many surviving CCS battlecruisers were commandeered by either Kig-Yar scavengers or independent Sangheili factions. As a result, the RCS armored cruiser took on a more predominant role in Jul 'Mdama's reformed Covenant.
During the Second Human-Covenant War, RCS-class cruisers were most commonly employed as flagships of fleets mostly consisting of CRS-class light cruisers. Several RCS-class cruisers were seen with Jul 'Mdama's fleet occupying Requiem in 2558.[2] One was destroyed when the UNSC Infinity emerged from slipspace and rammed it. Another one was seen fleeing Requiem after 'Mdama set the planet on a collision course with the sun.[3]
