A logrodite on Genesis.

A logrodite is a skittering, crab-like extremophile that is native to a moisture-dense asteroid cluster that was located on the edge of the Forerunner ecumene. Rather clever creatures, logrodites are known to consume bacteria considered harmful to most species. As a result, the Forerunners often brought logrodites to their worlds, such as Genesis, to scavenge the surface for the harmful bacteria, maintaining the world's delicate ecological balance as a result.[1]
