Konar is a city-state on Sanghelios, the homeworld of the Sangheili. The Gray Maiden of Konar was the daughter of the state's kaidon, who chose to rule Konar after her father's death. She refused to give her hand in marriage to kaidon suitors vying for her father's property, instead living her life out under constant siege in her fortified keep, aided by loyal vassals and rival kaidon suitors who wasted decades fighting among themselves.[1]

Jora 'Konaree, a Zealot in the Covenant's Ministry of Fervent Intercession during the Ninth Age of Reclamation, was from the state of Konar.[2] After being crippled in battle, Jora requested to be euthanized for fear that his dishonorable injury would lead to the extermination of his bloodline.[3]
