Seraphs maneuvering with impulse drives.

Impulse drives are a form of sublight propulsion system used by the Forerunners and later by the Covenant.[1]

Forerunner monitors possess impulse drives for long-distance travel,[2] while their primary form of transit on their assigned installations is the local teleportation grid.

The Covenant used impulse drives as propulsion systems on their Type-28 Ticks,[3] Type-31 Seraphs, and Type-27 Banshee fighters.[4]
