{{Halopedia:Main Page/Random/Layout|Mendicant Bias|File:Enc22 MendicantBias.jpg|05-032 Mendicant Bias was a ''Contender''-class ancilla employed by the Forerunners. Created by Faber-of-Will-and-Might and Shadow-of-Sundered-Star, the ancilla would be put in charge of all Forerunner defenses following the start of their war with the Flood. As part of its assignment, Mendicant Bias was tasked with conducting the first test-firing of a Halo ring, specifically Installation 07. This mission would bring him into contact with the ancient Precursor known as the Primordial, who would make use of the logic plague to turn Mendicant Bias against its creators. Ultimately, a second ''Contender''-class ancilla called Offensive Bias would be created to counter its traitorous counterpart. As the Halo Array was fired, Offensive Bias did battle with Mendicant Bias, defeating and later entombing it on Installation 00.}}</option>

{{Halopedia:Main Page/Random/Layout|Veta Lopis|File:Enc22 VetaLopis.jpg|Veta Lopis was a special investigator for the Gao Ministry of Protection until Blue Team arrived on the planet during Operation: JOVIAN WHISTLE, causing a chain of events that led her to be recruited by the Office of Naval Intelligence. Since then, Lopis has led a Ferret team of Spartan-IIIs on various espionage, investigation, and assassination missions. Most recently, Veta and her Ferrets infiltrated the Keepers of the One Freedom, an action which eventually led to their arrival at the Ark where they would find the UNSC ''Spirit of Fire'' and its crew combating the Banished.}}</option>

{{Halopedia:Main Page/Random/Layout|Battle for Zeta Halo|File:Enc22 HumanitySplashIllustration.jpg|The Battle for Zeta Halo is an ongoing conflict between the UNSC and Banished on Installation 07, the oldest surviving ring of the Halo Array. It began in late 2559 when the UNSC ''Infinity'' arrived at the installation with the goal of capturing and destroying Cortana. However, upon exiting slipspace, they were ambushed by a Banished force led by Atriox himself. The UNSC was defeated and the survivors were marooned on the Halo, struggling to survive for months afterward. That is, until Spartan-II John-117, the legendary Master Chief, was found alive amidst the debris of the initial space battle. With his return, the UNSC forces on Zeta Halo have discovered hope once more.}}</option>

{{Halopedia:Main Page/Random/Layout|Avu Med 'Telcam|File:Enc22-Avu Med.jpg|Commonly known as "The Bishop," Avu Med 'Telcam was the leader of the fanatical Servants of the Abiding Truth, a cult which follows the Sangheili's pre-Covenant beliefs. 'Telcam rose to prominence after the Human-Covenant War, partially due to the intervention of an ONI black ops unit called Kilo-Five, who helped arm his faction to prolong the Sangheili civil war. By 2558, he had outlived his usefulness to ONI, who sent a Spartan-III to assassinate him. Although the Bishop is no more, the Servants of the Abiding Truth live on under the watch of Dural 'Mdama, son of the infamous Jul 'Mdama.}}</option>

{{Halopedia:Main Page/Random/Layout|Kalmiya|File:Enc22 Kalmiya.jpg|Kalmiya was created by Dr. Catherine Halsey for the primary purpose of testing experimental software and techniques that would be incorporated into Cortana. Entering service in 2537, Kalmyia was decompiled, edited, and reconstructed by Dr. Halsey several times, prolonging her lifespan far past that of most "smart" AI. Despite the fact that Kalmiya was destroyed during the Fall of Reach, Blue Team discovered some of her subroutines surviving within the ruins of CASTLE Base in 2559. These remnants guarded a vault holding material that was later used to create the AI known simply as "the Weapon."}}</option>

{{Halopedia:Main Page/Random/Layout|Voro Nar 'Mantakree|File:Enc22 Voro.jpg|Serving on the ''Varric''-pattern heavy cruiser ''Incorruptible'' during the Great Schism, Voro Nar 'Mantakree killed shipmaster Tano 'Inanraree when he refused to fire on Flood which threatened to board their vessel, believing them Forerunner creations. After taking control of the ''Incorruptible'', 'Mantakree was able to negotiate a truce between the Sangheili and Jiralhanae warships at High Charity, urging them to focus their attention on the Flood. However, the truce would be short-lived, forcing 'Mantakree to flee to Saepon'kal to regroup with another Sangheili fleet. There, Imperial Admiral Xytan 'Jar Wattinree ordered Voro Nar 'Mantakree to prevent the humans on Onyx from accessing its stores of Forerunner relics. Ultimately, 'Mantakree and his forces were killed when Spartan-II Kurt-051 detonated two nuclear warheads, destroying the planet.}}</option>

{{Halopedia:Main Page/Random/Layout|''Halberd''-class light destroyer|File:Covenant-4.jpg|Entering service in 2508, the ''Halberd''-class light destroyer was prominent during the Insurrection and throughout the Human-Covenant War. The class continues to serve even into the post-war era. What the ''Halberd'' lacks in general-purpose utility, it makes up for with speed and firepower. Its dual MAC battery, 26 Archer missile pods, 4 Rampart point defense guns, and 3 Shiva-class nuclear missiles grant the warship a surprisingly powerful bite for its modest size. Notable ''Halberd''-class light destroyers include the UNSC ''Iroquois'', UNSC ''Pioneer'' and UNSC ''The Heart of Midlothian''.}}</option>

{{Halopedia:Main Page/Random/Layout|''Anodyne Spirit''|File:Enc22 LowerDistricts.png|The ''Supernal Spiral''-class keyship ''Anodyne Spirit'' played a key role in the reseeding of life throughout the galaxy following the activation of the Halo Array. After returning to the Ark, the vessel was hijacked by Mendicant Bias in an attempt to atone for its sins by assisting humanity. The keyship ultimately crashed on the San'Shyuum homeworld, forming the basis of their religion. Millennia later, ''Anodyne Spirit'' was used by the Prophet of Truth to activate a portal to the Ark. With the Prophet's efforts to activate Halo ending in failure, the keyship remained where it was left, while those left to guard the vessel only now starting to venture out from its armored hull.}}</option>

{{Halopedia:Main Page/Random/Layout|Luna|File:Enc22 Earthrise.jpg|Luna, Earth's only moon, was first visited by modern humanity in 1969 and colonized by 2080. In 2362, the first extrasolar colony vessel—the ''Odyssey''—was launched from a mooring platform over Luna, leaving for the planet Reach in the Epsilon Eridani system and kicking off the Domus Diaspora. Even following these colonization efforts, Luna has remained an extremely important colony within the human sphere. The UNSC Navy's prestigious Luna OCS Academy is located in Mare Nubium and ONI maintains a facility in Daedalus Crater.}}</option>

{{Halopedia:Main Page/Random/Layout|''Orion''-class assault carrier|File:HaloFleetBattles-Orion.jpg|Considered state-of-the-art at the time of its introduction in 2473, the ''Orion''-class assault carrier served within the UNSC Navy during the Insurrection and Human-Covenant War. The ''Orion''-class is notable for its automated factories and chemical processors. Most commonly found on colony vessels, these features allow the assault carrier to produce fuel, spare parts, and even some combat vehicles without any outside assistance. Additionally, the ''Orion''-class features two heavy MACs, allowing it deal significant damage to enemy warships.}}</option>

{{Halopedia:Main Page/Random/Layout|War sphinx|File:Enc22 WarSphinx.png|Operated in combat by Forerunner Warrior-Servants, the war sphinx was a highly versatile combat vehicle. Though usually flown in air and space, they could also operate on the ground in a bipedal form. War sphinxes were deployed in large numbers during the Human-Forerunner War and the following Forerunner-Flood War. After his first exile, the Ur-Didact's Cryptum was guarded by twelve war sphinxes, each of which were once piloted by his children before their deaths. Several war sphinxes would later be discovered on Shield World 006 by ONI scientists, though they have yet to unlock the machines' secrets.}}</option>

This armament is best suited for artifact retrieval purposes, for which the ''Protos'' possessed specialized sensor arrays. Like the other Scarab variations, the ''Protos''-pattern Scarab utilizes colonies of Rhulolekgolo to control its exoskeleton. Despite generally being used in non-combat roles, the ''Protos'' was deployed during several conflicts late in the Human-Covenant War, such as those on Meridian, Reach, Earth, and Installation 05.}}</option>

Orphaned early in humanity's war with the Covenant, Hazel was conscripted into the first company of Spartan-III supersoldiers. Prior to Operation: PROMETHEUS, Hazel-A302 was transferred to the Headhunter program, recording over a dozen confirmed kills on Covenant high-value targets. After the war, she and fellow Spartan-III Owen-B096 served in a public-facing role at Outpost Discovery. Following the start of the Created conflict and the increasing Banished threat, Hazel was reassigned to protect supply lines along the periphery of humanity's colonies.}}</option>

While it functioned well in its intended role, the Covenant would favor other aircraft with heavier armaments and greater versatility. However, Vampires notably saw combat during the Harvest Campaign, the Battle for Arcadia, and the following Battle of Trove. After the war's end, several Vampires were witnessed in the possession of Fleetmaster Rojka 'Kasaan.}}</option>

{{Halopedia:Main Page/Random/Layout|Concord|File:Enc22 Concord flipped.png|Concord was established as an Outer Colony in 2490 due to its ideal position relative to slipspace routes and its high concentration of precious mineral deposits. These features made the planet an attractive location for the headquarters of Lethbridge Industrial, a corporation that specializes in gravitic control systems and components for MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor. In late 2551, Concord was attacked by an unusually small Covenant force, but the combined efforts of the UNSC and Concordian militia were able to repel the alien invaders. This rare victory allowed Concord to survive the Human-Covenant War relatively unscathed.}}</option>

After the war, Eklund's experience led to her recruitment into the Spartan-IV program. By late 2554, Spartan Eklund was attached to Fireteam Crimson where her actions in several operations caught the eyes of Jun-A266 and Musa Ghanem, who reassigned her to more isolated missions. The initial mission to capture the ship ended in failure due to conflicting recon reports and the presence of a hostile force. However, ONI eventually succeeded in establishing a research base at the site. At some point following Cortana's rise to power, the vessel fell under the control of the Created, who reactivated the ship's dormant creation engines to begin the process of terraforming the desolate moon.}}</option>

{{Halopedia:Main Page/Random/Layout|Needler|File:HTMCC-HR Needlers.jpg|Although the pre-Covenant Sangheili did possess a rudimentary understanding of the destructive potential of weapons that utilize Subanese crystals, true mastery of this ammunition would be realized in the Covenant's Needler. The Needler's inner mechanisms break down the crystals and catalyzes the resulting shards, which become capable of tracking specific heat signatures of sighted targets. While the Needler is classified as a weapon for specialist troops, its potential to inflict gruesome damage with little marksmanship skill has made it a popular weapon among the Covenant's lower castes and its poorly-trained soldiers.}}</option>

However, an encounter with the Gravemind left his mind and psyche permanently altered. One hundred thousand years after being imprisoned by the Librarian on Requiem, the Didact was freed by John-117. The Forerunner retrieved a powerful device known as the Composer, but was knocked into a slipspace rift while trying to compose the population of Earth. This rift took him to Gamma Halo, the location of the Composer's Abyss. John-117 and the rest of Blue Team confronted the Promethean and digitized him with the combined power of five Composers. {{Halopedia:Main Page/Random/Layout|Battle of Installation 04|File:HM-JohnI04-full.jpg|The Battle of Installation 04 in September 2552 was a turning point in the Human-Covenant War, setting in motion events that would lead to the Great Schism and ultimately the end of the war. It began when the UNSC ''Pillar of Autumn'', fleeing Reach along an ostensibly random trajectory, stumbled across and subsequently crash landed on an unidentified artificial ringworld: Alpha Halo. In the ensuing battle, it was revealed that the ring was part of a failsafe contingency to prevent the spread of an interstellar parasite, the Flood. If the need was dire enough, the Halo Array would sterilize the galaxy of life and deprive the Flood of its food supply. With the Flood released upon the ring and its caretaker threatening to fire the Array, it fell to John-117 to destroy the ring to stop its firing, contain the Flood outbreak, and prevent catastrophe. The outbreak of the Human-Covenant War saw the Grizzly further cement itself as the UNSC's premier anti-armor weapons platform, contesting alien armored vehicles so effectively that the Covenant often had to rely on naval assets to defeat them. While the Grizzly is still in service following the war, the UNSC began to field this tank far less often even as the war came to a close, largely due to its exorbitant cost, stringent maintenance requirements, and difficulty of transportation.}

This action ignited the War of Beginnings, a conflict that raged for nearly a century. Ultimately, a peace was brokered between the two species and the Covenant was formed. Vema 'Togad's ferocity in battle inspired the San'Shyuum to preserve the title of Arbiter.}}

{{Halopedia:Main Page/Random/Layout|Jerome-092|File:Jerome Halo Wars 2 leader portait.png|Born Jerome Cable on the tough inner colony of Minister, he was forced into a violent life of crime even at an early age. Although he initially tried to escape from the Spartan-II program, Jerome-092 proved to be a top candidate for the program and one of its four greatest emerging leaders. When it came time for the Spartans to undergo augmentations, Jerome's body rejected the changes, resulting in his rehabilitation and re-augmentation alongside Douglas-042 and Alice-130. Jerome led these two Spartans—now known as Red Team—during Battle of Arcadia in 2531 when the team linked up with the UNSC Spirit of Fire. They would fight the Covenant on Trove and eventually the Banished on the Ark, where Captain Cutter granted Jerome the acting rank of commander.}}

With increasing Insurrectionist activity among the Outer Colonies, the vessel was requisitioned by the UNSC and refit for combat duty. However, these upgrades would see use following the onset of the Human-Covenant War instead. Under the command of Captain James Cutter, the UNSC ''Spirit of Fire'' played a pivotal role in the Harvest campaign, the First Battle of Arcadia, and the Battle of Trove. After the battle at the shield world, the vessel found itself adrift for 28 years until arriving at the Ark where the ship and its crew are still locked in combat with the Banished.}}

Each time, Atriox was the only warrior to return from battle. When it became clear that Atriox's hatred of the Covenant and his influence over other Jiralhanae posed a threat, 'Hesiikee decided to execute him. Returning alone from one last suicide mission, Atriox was brought before 'Hesiikee, who declared him a heretic and a traitor. However, when 'Hesiikee tried to execute Atriox, the Jiralhanae caught his blade and killed the Sangheili with his own weapon. In that moment, the Banished were born. After this confrontation, Atriox took 'Hesiikee's energy sword and reforged some of its components to create Chainbreaker, his custom gravity mace which would inspire the Banished's logo.}}

Commonly crewed by those who had been condemned for their disloyalty or disobedience, a posting aboard a ''Sinaris''-pattern heavy destroyer was considered to be a viable method of the faithful returning to the rolls of honor after previously disgracing themselves. Despite the vessel's distinct focus on naval combat, the ''Sinaris''-pattern was also equipped with sufficient complements of aircraft and infantry to assist in planetary occupation duties. Following the war, these warships continue to see service within the naval forces of the Swords of Sanghelios and other remnant factions.}}

Tensions on Reynes escalated from protests to the formation of an insurrectionist cell led by Kinsano herself. However, when the Covenant attacked Reynes and the UNSC helped to resettle the colony's refugees, Kinsano began to change her stance on the UNSC and eventually enlisted in the Marine Corps to fight humanity's common enemy. Kinsano found herself serving in the Hellbringers, a specialized detachment of the ODST Special Tactics and Equipment Group. {{Halopedia:Main Page/Random/Layout|Feldokra|File:HINF Concept FeldokraCity.png|Known as "Faithful Perseverance" to the San'Shyuum, Feldokra is a Sangheili colony and ocean-moon orbiting the planet Dokra-Movi in the Zethro'Kal system. Initially colonized by the great sea clans of Sangheili history, the Covenant would later build enormous structures across the world's surface, citadels that would serve the highest echelon of military personnel, second only to the towers of High Charity itself. During the construction of these massive complexes, countless Forerunner fuel and power facilities were discovered in Feldokra's ocean trenches. The planet's deep seas also host several mines where precious materials are collected and used in the production of military hardware.}}

The Prelate and the Scion.

Tul 'Juran is the daughter of Tulum 'Juranai and scion of his keep on the Sangheili frontier colony of Rahnelo. In 2553, she joined Shipmaster Rtas 'Vadum on his hunt for Tem'Bhetek, a San'Shyuum prelate who had assaulted Rahnelo. After helping the shipmaster destroy a superweapon that the San'Shyuum planned to use on Sanghelios, Rtas 'Vadum informed Arbiter Thel 'Vadam of Tul 'Juran's valor and combat ability during the mission. In response, 'Vadam eased restrictions on female service within the Swords of Sanghelios.
