'Freezer Burn', as it is known throughout the UNSC, is a painful injury sustained while being covered (clothes, towels etc.) during cyrosleep. Clothed skin tended to react badly to the [[cryotube]] process, resulting in some 'pretty nasty rashes'. This is the reason that most personnel go into Cryosleep naked.
'''Freezer Burn''', as it is known throughout the UNSC, is an injury caused because of or from [[Cryonics|cryopreservation]] in the cryo-bays of UNSC ships. During the freezing and recusitation process, cloth or other material next to the skin causes cellular damage, resulting in large welts or rashes on the covered areas. Most UNSC personnel are stored in cryo either naked, or clothed and willing to endure the injuries. Spartans, for example, can be stored in cryopreservation fully clad in MJOLNIR armour without the effects dulling their combat performance. Its not known if this is because they simply ignore the injury, or if the advanced materials mean that they do not suffer from it.
