Departure (cinematic)

Infinity is the opening cinematic for the game mode Spartan Ops of Halo 4. It depicts Fireteam Majestic on their first day onboard the UNSC Infinity.

Transcript

A D79-TC Pelican is seen flying from the Earth. As the camera zooms on the dropship, a few captions show up below it.

EARTH, SOL SYSTEM
NEW PHOENIX INCIDENT + SIX MONTHS

• Hoya (voiceover): "Well, I'm not gonna complain."

Cuts to Gabriel Thorne looking down at his holoboard, which has a view of New Phoenix.

• Thorne: "Uh huh"

Cuts to Thorne sitting down with Hoya standing over him.

• Thorne: "So tell me more about Rio, what else did I miss?"

• Hoya: "Aw man, the place is a mess. I mean, too many Covenant asylum seekers all pinned up."

• Thorne: "Yeah, Demarco said it was pretty crazy"

The camera turns over to Demarco and Madsen chatting from Thorne's POV.

• Hoya: "Well, it could have been worse. I mean, look what happened to New Phoenix."

Cuts briefly to Thorne and back to Hoya.

• Hoya: "We even caught this one Sangheili freak trying to detonate a HAVOK nuke."

• Demarco: "Hoya. Give it a rest."

Hoya, Thorne and the camera turn over to face Demarco and Madsen.

• Demarco: "We all know you were on the other side of town when they caught that hinge-head."

Cuts to a close up of Hoya.

• Hoya: "Yeah? And where were you, Demarco?"

Cuts back to Madsen and Demarco.

• Demarco: "What, Madsen and me? We were just making the ladies of Rio de Janero felt.."

He claps his hands once.

• Demarco: "..safe and secure."

• Madsen: "That's right. Just Fireteam Majestic doing a little community outreach."

Demarco and Madsen laugh and bump fists while Hoya just scoffs. Cuts to a close up of Grant, who shakes her head in mocking annoyance. Cuts to her POV looking at Thorne.

• Grant: "You had people in New Phoenix, didn't you?"

• Thorne: "I did."

• Grant: "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-"

• Thorne: "It's alright."

Thorne looks down on his holoboard.

• Thorne: "I'll get over it."

• Hoya: "Hey, Thorne."

Thorne looks up to Hoya, who gestures at him to come over.

• Hoya: "You should take a look at this."

Majestic's Pelican is joined by more as they approach the Infinity.

• Hoya: "There she is, man; Infinity."

HALO: INFINITY

A wide-shot of the Infinity is shown. Cuts to Majestic's Pelican, which lands at the hanger bay. The hatch opens and Majestic walks out.

• Roland: "Ah, Fireteam Majestic."

Cuts to Majestic looking at Roland's avatar.

• Demarco: "Yeah, that's us"

• Roland: "Welcome aboard, Spartans. I'm Roland, the ship's AI at your service. On the line, Spartans; someone will be along to show you around shortly."

Roland logs off.

• Demarco: "Alright, Majestic form up."

As the squad gets in line, the camera turns over to show the Infinity's crew in action.

• Demarco (to Madsen): "Whoa, take a look."

The camera cuts to a close up of Sarah Palmer walking before changing to an over-the-shoulder shot of her facing Majestic.

• • Madsen: "Oh, my."

Madsen moves but is blocked by Demarco.

• Demarco: "Uh-uh. I saw her first."

He approaches Palmer as he clears his throat.

• Demarco: "Hi there."

• Palmer: "Why, hello. Spartan....?"

• Demarco: "Paul Demarco. I lead Fireteam Majestic."

Cuts to Palmer.

• Palmer: "Wow. A whole fireteam, huh?"

Cuts back to Demarco.

• Demarco: "I didn't...catch your name?"

• Palmer: "Sarah Palmer."

Demarco nods. Cuts back to Palmer.

• Palmer: "Commander Sarah Palmer. I lead all fireteams onboard Infinity."

Realizing this, Demarco steps back in line.

• DeMarco: "Fireteam Majestic, Commander on Deck!"

All of Fireteam Majestic stands at attention and salutes. Cuts to a medium shot of Palmer.

• Palmer: "At ease, Spartans."

• Palmer: "Follow me. S-Deck is this way."

Hoya chuckles as the squad is lead out of view.

• DeMarco: "Shut it"

Camera cuts to Thorne looking around one last time.

• Announcer: "Attention all hands, prepare for slip space jump."

Infinity jumps. Cuts to the Infinity's Bridge. Captain Thomas Lasky is shown observing a holomap of the Covenant Fleet occupying Requiem with Roland.

• Roland: "This is the latest sync-in on Covenant fleet locations, Captain. Pretty standard positioning really."

Palmer approaches them.

Lasky: "Commander Palmer."

He nods to Roland, who salutes and then logs off.

• Lasky: “things get boring in Spartan town?”

• Palmer: "Captain Lasky. You know I come here for my peace and quiet."

Palmer leans on the desk and crosses her arms as Lasky looks up at her.

• Palmer: "I'm not interrupting naptime, am I?"

Lasky looks back at the map wearily.

• Lasky: "On the contrary. Show starts at 05:00"

Palmer uncrosses her arms.

• Palmer: "We've waited six months. We could spend another 48 hours running the teams through the War Games."

Cuts to Lasky.

• Lasky: "Navy disagrees with Spartans on this one. We want you ready. Now."
