Actium was a human colony world, one of the Inner Colonies administrated by the Unified Earth Government. The planet was the homeworld of Office of Naval Intelligence Captain Veronica Dare.[1]
History
Actium was colonized by the Unified Earth Government in 2397.[2] The colony was discovered by the Covenant in May 2545. The ensuing campaign lasted less than a month. It ended in the total destruction of local UNSC defenses and the world's inevitable glassing. Before that happened, however, the planet's defenders managed to inflict heavy casualties on the Covenant.[3]
Trivia
The colony is likely named after Actium, a promontory in western Greece which was the site of a major battle during the Final War of the Roman Republic.
