It is unknown if Mars was too the first planet colonized by [[Ancient humans]] because no traces exist of any [[Ancient human]] activity, if it was all destroyed by the Forerunners during the [[Human-Forerunner wars]] or they didn't found any value on Mars.

It is said that Mars was once a habitable planet, just like Earth, from rivers to oceans, islands to continents, trees to forests and having Martian life forms, but one day Mars just got covered with red sand, it's atmosphere weakened and all life perished on the planet. This could've happened during the [[Human-Forerunner wars]] or just died out by itself.

[[IsoDidact|Bornstellar Makes Eternal Lasting]] was sent to work into a step family of Miners as punishment for his rebellious ways. Inspired by [[Bornstellar's ancilla|his ancilla]]'s tales of [[Precursor]] treasure, Bornstellar eventually escaped and made his way to [[Earth]] aboard an automated transport. During his stay on Mars, Bornstellar climbed the planet's highest volcano, [[Wikipedia:Olympus Mons|Olympus Mons]].<ref name="Cryptum"/>
