Mara was a member of a species of ape, identified today as Gigantopithecus, who lived on Installation 07.[1] According to Genemender Folder of Fortune, she was the last of her kind, and was brought on the Halo by the Librarian.[2]
After the monitors in Genemender's camp powered down, she followed Vinnevra, Chakas, and Riser on their journey across the Halo.
