It is similar to the [[assault cannon]] wielded by the [[Mgalekgolo]], in that it fires a continuous beam that can blast away intervening obstructions and can be fatal even to a fully [[Energy shielding|shielded]] [[SPARTAN Program|Spartan]]. The weapon is also similar in function to the [[Sentinel Beam|armament]] of [[Forerunner]] [[Sentinel]]s, perhaps suggesting that the Covenant reverse-engineered the weapon from this technology.
