Prior to the [[Battle of Earth]], Voi Municipal Water Pump House 03 was undergoing maintenance or construction, as two subterranean pipes diverging from the main pipeline are unearthed, some sections haphazardly covered with plates of grating.{{Ref/Reuse|H3TH}}

During the [[Covenant]]'s prolonged invasion of Earth, the [[Prophet of Truth]]'s [[Jiralhanae]]-led forces guarding the perimeter of the [[Excession]] established an outpost near the pumping station to keep any [[human]] forces at bay. On [[2552#November|November 17, 2552]], the pump house became the site of engagement as [[UNSC Marine Corps|UNSC Marines]] pushed towards Voi after the destruction of the UNSC airbase [[H3:Crow's Nest|Crow's Nest]], led by  [[SPARTAN-II program|Spartan]] [[John-117]].
