"This is a more character-driven piece, and its also about a planet that everyone knows will fall, and falls to the Covenant. So it's a more somber, more visceral introduction to the game that we're making."
Martin O'Donnell [1]

The Halo: Reach Original Soundtrack was released in stores September 28, 2010,[2] and was distributed via iTunes and Sumthing Digital on September 14.[3] There are a total of 20 tracks in the two-disk set comprising a total of 67 minutes worth of music.[4]

The soundtrack was composed by Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori with help from Stan LePard and C. Paul Johnson [5], and published by Sumthing Distribution.

The Halo: Reach Soundtrack marks the final time composers Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori collaborate and compose original music for a Halo game.[2] In a press release, Martin O'Donnell referred to the soundtrack as "... the culmination of our efforts".[6]

  • The last 8 songs on the soundtrack are not fully featured in-game. They are merely bonus tracks which appear in short clips throughout in-game campaign missions and cutscenes. From the Vault is fully featured in game, but only within the bonus Tribute Room.
  • There are two known songs - "Uphill, Both Ways" [a remix of the Both Ways (Remix)] and "Lone Wolf" - that do not make it onto the official soundtrack, but appear as MP3 files downloadable through Bungie's website.
