Halopedia:Layout guide/Real

From Halopedia, the Halo wiki

This page is a layout guide for making pages about real-world people, based on the style employed at the Independent Fallout Wiki. When making such a page, first make sure it meets our notability guidelines for such articles.

When creating these pages, be mindful of good sources; edits which could be construed as libel will be removed without notice.

Layout[edit]

The introductory paragraph should introduce the person and a quick overview of their contributions to the Halo series; their role, what titles they have worked on, and any other notable information. If the person has a Wikipedia article, add the Wikipedia template above.

Any images of real people should be sourced from public sources. ViDocs, official employee profiles on studio websites or blogs, and photos published on public[Note 1] social media are all acceptable here, though a focus should be retained for images that are high-quality and professional.

If a person involved in Halo has since changed their name for any reason, the article as a whole should only refer to them by their current name. If they have been previously officially credited under a different name, nickname, or alias the introduction section may make mention of such to avoid confusion for readers, before using their current name for the rest of the article.[Note 2]

Background[edit]

Briefly summarise the person's history prior to their involvement in Halo here. This should not be overtly detailed, and instead summarise the key relevant points; education, skills, previous work history, and so forth.

Career[edit]

If necessary, a more in-depth discussion of a person's previous career can be placed here, instead of having a background section.

Halo series[edit]

Use this section to discuss a person's contributions to Halo specifically. This can be in-depth, and cover their specific roles and contributions in detail. If needed, sub-sections can be made for specific individual titles.

Current[edit]

If a person has since ceased working on Halo, a section like this can be used to briefly summarise how, why, and when they left the series and what they did after. As with the background section, this should be brief.

Retroactive comments and unofficial involvement with Halo (for example, Eric Nylund confirming on his website he had no further plans to work on Halo novels, or Martin O'Donnell continuing to upload behind-the-scenes looks at Halo music on his YouTube channel) may also be covered here.

Credits[edit]

This section can be used to list the person's credits. For authors, replacing this section with a bibliography is also acceptable.

Gallery[edit]

This section can be used to display more images of the person in question. For artists, the gallery can be used to showcase notable examples of their work too. However, to avoid cluttering the page too much, use the linkbox template to link directly to the artist's gallery page (a directory of which can be found here). This can be done using the following code, simply replacing "Artist Name" as required:

{{Linkbox|gallery=yes|gallerypage=Images by Artist Name}}

To add a gallery section, use the following code:

<gallery>
 File:ImageName.jpg|Image caption.
 </gallery>

External links[edit]

This section can be used to directly link to other articles/videos/pages by, with, and about the article's subject. This may include employee spotlights, interviews, or links to any public-facing portfolios and social media.[Note 1]

Notes[edit]

  1. ^ a b Public social media in this context is defined as social media in which a given person is active and engages with fans; trawling for a private Facebook profile would not be acceptable in this case, whereas a person who is active on a public platform such as X/Twitter would be acceptable.
  2. ^ As noted on the notability policy, any information will be removed if requested by a given party, overriding any other guidelines set out on this page.
