From Halopedia, the Halo wiki

This picture is really dark, almost solid black from a distance. It's also not in profile, it's from a diagonal view that obscures much of the ship. Any chance we could get it lightened? Tuckerscreator(stalk) 00:24, 21 March 2012 (EDT)

I'm afraid not. Besides, it was almost always shrouded in darkness in the game. But to me, the lighting is just fine. I had no trouble picking out details. --Xamikaze330 00:29, 21 March 2012 (EDT)Xamikaze330
Forgot to add, not all things have to be in profile. Diagonal views work just as well. Just look at the Ket-pattern battlecruiser page. Those cutouts from Halo Waypoint are not in profile, they're fine the way they are. --Xamikaze330 00:33, 21 March 2012 (EDT)Xamikaze330

Diagonal can work, that's a minor quibble. I just mainly have a problem with the fact that the frigate's details are now too darkened to be seen. The old pic seemed to show them just fine; you could even read the Hull Classification Symbol. Tuckerscreator(stalk) 00:54, 21 March 2012 (EDT)

I agree it's a little dark and the original worked fine. I'm also a little curious as to why should every ship profile image have its background cropped off. The cropping works well in pictures about pieces of equipment like weapons, or ship classes as a whole, but I've always thought individual ship profile images work better when shown with the original background. I'm thinking we should have a clear-cut policy on this - which subjects should use cropped images as the main image and where it's more appropriate to keep the background in. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 01:55, 21 March 2012 (EDT)

My policy's been whole ship classes should be a profile on a white transparent background, individual ships should have a background and don't need to be profile. Of course, there can be exceptions, such when the original background was too dark, but that's where discretion comes in. Tuckerscreator(stalk) 02:07, 21 March 2012 (EDT)

Personally, I've always liked transparent backgrounds rather than with a white background. And I might add, your policy isn't everyone else's policy, and I pray it never will be. No offense intended. That's just my personal opinion. When I get a profile screenshot of the UNSC In Amber Clad, I'll let you all know, one way or another, you'll find out. --Xamikaze330 10:37, 21 March 2012 (EDT)Xamikaze330
Honestly, what Tuckerscreator suggested would be the best for resolving this issue. Simply having transparent background doesn't necessarily make the image better; as in this case, the one with the background looks better whereas the current one is simply too dark (am very aware of the in-game lighting). It's a matter of quality and detail; having a quality image that lacks good detail (which is the case of the current image) is not necessarily good for the article. — subtank 11:45, 21 March 2012 (EDT)
Be that as it may, I still think it looks better the way it is, therefore, I will not change it, and I don't want anyone else changing it either. What I am willing to do is change it back to the original intro image, and put this one into the article's Gallery section. I would appreciate it if people would honor this. I would also add that I can make out the frigate's ship emblem, as well as everything else. If you want to know where I got this, then click this link here. And furthermore, I might add that the original image is almost too small for me to work with, in spite of it having better lighting. --Xamikaze330 11:56, 21 March 2012 (EDT)Xamikaze330
I don't think anyone is actually proposing to remove/delete this image permanently from the wiki, simply that it shouldn't be the introductory image in the infobox.— subtank 12:04, 21 March 2012 (EDT)
That's what I thought this was all about. So I changed it, the article, I mean. The image is still there in the article, but in the Gallery, not in the infobox. --Xamikaze330 12:10, 21 March 2012 (EDT)Xamikaze330
