During the development of Halo Wars, lead writer Graeme Devine wrote some small lore pieces and short stories to support the game story and "help the team get the vibe of what it was like to be on Spirit of Fire". These stories feature many of the cast and characters of Halo Wars, and expand on some events found in the game and Halo Wars: Genesis.[1]
However, these stories do not constitute official Halo canon, with Devine noting that "essentially this is fan fiction". Halopedia keeps a text archive of these writings for informative purposes.[1]
